Background and Education
Alynia is a proud "double Bear": she earned both her undergraduate degree and her law degree from UC Berkeley. While at Berkeley she stood out as a leader in public interest law, and she has published an award-winning legal analysis of race and government.
Her career has taken her through nonprofit organizations, government service, a startup, and private practice, and that range gives her an unusually complete view of how the legal system actually works and how to move through it effectively. Along the way she has championed workers, tenants, and disabled communities. She has represented low-income tenants against predatory landlords and shut their operations down, taken on major pharmaceutical companies, stood up for employees facing discrimination at work, and advised businesses that wanted to treat their teams the right way.
Alynia is also a first-generation professional of Afro-Venezuelan immigrant heritage. She knows firsthand the kinds of struggles many workers carry into the office every day, which is why her commitment to this work is not only professional. It is personal.
